Brief description of the houses

LaThebaudiere is situated in the area of Orne in Normandy. Close to The medieval Town of Domfront.
Situated in the southern part of the national park. It is set in beautiful Normandy countryside surrounded by small dairy farms.
LaThebaudiere was originally a thriving farming hamlet set in 3 acres of land in the heart of the Cider and Poire growing region of Orne. The original owner was a wealthy Parisian who lived and farmed the cider region dating back to the 1600. Situated some 300 meters from the La Verenne river and set in the national park.
Each house over the last 400 years has been occupied and used by different people and animals alike and each house holds its own unique character.
The village is set between Torchamp and Ceauce with Ceauce been the closest for all amenities such as banks, bakers, bars, butchers etc. Ceauce is a traditional French town and has a regular market and community. Christmas is especially super when the whole town is decorated with Christmas lights.

The fortified town of Domfront dating back to the 1100 and founded by William the conquerer formally William of Normandy is 7 klm away and has all the larger supermarkets, banks and a number of excellent restaurants. The town works hard to promote French culture. Domfront prides itself on its arts and music festivals held during the summer.
The village is well placed for Lavel, Mayenne, Saint Mont Michel, Caen and Fler. Paris is 3 hours drive and 2 hours on the train from Fler.
The village is situated off the D262. You travel between a farm and then the road splits. You come through a cider meadow with a valley on your left. In front of you, you will see a large walnut tree having stood there for some 500 years. On your right you will see the lake.
There is zero light, sound and smell pollution and the view of the stars at night is breath-taking. The tranquillity makes it feel a little like Brigadoon for those romantically inclined.
The Mairie
The Mairie was the main residence of Mr Thebaud. The residence is deceptive and contains 3 upstairs bedrooms and a spacious bathroom with bath and shower. The cottage was built in 1820 and provides spacious accommodation. Downstairs there is a downs stairs bathroom with shower. There is a large room that can be a guest bedroom or study. There is a utility room for washing machines and bedding. Kitchen diner with spacious fully fitted kitchen. Large lounge with feature fireplace with log burner. The room has windows overlooking the front gardens and the rear gardens. There are gardens all around the property. The cottage has a private rear garden with private parking.
The Quincaillerie
Previously a tool store and housed the cart and horses. This is a lovely 2 bedroomed house with open plan living and large atrium. The accommodation comprises of kitchen diner with fitted kitchen. Lounge with log burner. 2 large bedrooms and a study. Bathroom with shower.
The is a beautiful Atrium which pulls in lots of sunshine or most of the day. Private garden are at the rear and parking to the front.
The Cave
A store for holding the oak barrels of Cider and Poire. This is a lovely end cottage with 2 large bedrooms and bathroom with shower. There is a lounge dining area and fitted kitchen with a second lounge and log burner. There is a large rear garden and parking. built in 1820.
The Poste
Once a farm workers house, cow shed, shop and is the oldest house in the village dating back to 1642. This is a pretty unique cottage with a lovely built in kitchen dining room overlooking the large front garden. The lounge is large with central log burner and windows all round. There is a back door leading to the rear garden. There is a garden at the side of the property and ample parking.
The Cederie
Contained the split floor where the large oaks vats were kept, the split floor was for natural gravity. This two bedroomed cottage is the sunniest house with sun most the day and evening. There is a kitchen diner with fitted kitchen. There is a lounge with log burner and large french windows looking over the side garden. There is a downstairs toilet and utility room. Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.
Gardens are on 3 sides and private parking.
The Ecole
Was the bottling store and farm workers living area. This cottage has an open plan living cosy living. It has a fitted kitchen diner area, lounge with utiliy room. There is a lovely open stairs to the 2 bedrooms, one double and one single. There is a bathroom with shower. Gardens are on 3 sides and ample parking.
The Boulongerie
The bake house and contains a beautiful outdoor bread oven and stone chimney and was where the servants slept. This is a two bedroomed cottage with lounge diner and fully fitted kitchen. There is a downstairs bathroom with bath. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms.
Each house is very deceptive from the outside and offer ample living space. The houses are well laid out, 2 bedrooms, and 1 bathroom with shower and toilet. Downstairs there is a living room, dining kitchen area. There are large log burners and oil/electric radiators. Cooker are all operated on gas.
Each house is fully double glazed and fully insulated. There is Wifi and ethernet broadband connection. The properties come partially or fully furnished.Each house has a varied sized gardens dependant on your appetite for gardening.
There is private parking for up to 2 cars.
Logs are readily available from the farmer next door. He will drop a full tractor bucket right at your doorstep.
The village is ideal for retired/ semi retired couples. Each house has their own private garden and parking. The surroundings are beautiful especially the well stocked lake. It is a gated complex ideal for those who want to enjoy France but not feel isolated.
The ideal persons would be those who enjoy the country life and enjoy gardening. I am constantly there stocking the 3 acre site with plants and everyone gets involved in the planting and to chat about future projects, It has a really friendly atmosphere.
I like the residents to feel it is their home so i am always willing to accommodate long term residents with specific requirements.
